Where to Eat

A Look into Water Street Market

Whether you’ve come to experience a piece of military history at the USS Lexington, partake in world class saltwater fishing, or be swept away with some of the most unique and intriguing marine life found in the world at the Texas State Aquarium you can do it all – and more – in downtown Corpus Christi.

Best of all, you’ll be near Water Street Market, an exceptional site and local favorite for vibrant entertainment, live music, art, eateries, nightlife and shopping.

Family owned and locally loved, Water Street opened its first restaurant, Water Street Seafood Co. to the public in 1983 in downtown Corpus Christi, just blocks from the bay.  Today, Water Street Market has expanded into a quaint, open-air village housing three distinctly delicious restaurants, and the only surf museum in Texas.

A day of museum hopping and sightseeing can certainly work up an appetite.  Between all the museum visits and sightseeing , be sure to step into Water Street Seafood Co. for some of the freshest gulf seafood in the city, The Oyster Bar for a uniquely local dining experience in what was once an old transmission shop, and the Executive Surf Club, the largest beer supplier on tap in the city, for some tasty burgers and draft beer.

Water Street Market hosts a group of family-friendly restaurants all owned by a local restaurateur, with menus featuring everything from oysters and seafood to authentic Italian cuisine. They even offer a takeaway option for those on the go!  We stepped into Water Street Seafood Co. to try out some delectable Grilled Mahi Mahi (also sourced locally) with Crawfish Nueces Sauce, served with zucchini and rice – yum!

In-between all the sightseeing, you’ll want to stop by the Executive Surf Club to try out one of their legendary burgers.  We ordered the popular Executive Surf Burger with Onion Rings and it did not disappoint.  The patio is dog friendly so you can even bring your furry friends! Be sure to ask about their Loyalty Program – users can sign up at the Surf Club website and get a card from the bartender in the restaurant. The more beer you try the more prizes you get – so you won’t want to miss out!
