When Art & Food Collide at Takeniwa

Located on Corpus Christi’s bustling SPID, Takeniwa is a hotspot for sushi lovers. Having opened its doors in 2009, it offers a serious selection of both traditional and inventive sushi that’s delicious and wallet-friendly. Takeniwa draws patrons in with its unique blend of modern and eastern decor, and more importantly, a full bar offering an assortment of exotic sakes and beers (Asahi, Sapporo, Kirin) to wash down your favorite specialty rolls.

A set of dark cherry wood sliding doors lead to a private space in the back reserved for hosting hosting special events. The walls are adorned with images of the Temple of the Gold Pavilion as an ode to the homeland of the original makers of sushi.

Pro tip: we’re obsessed with their X’mas Roll and Tsunami Roll. Locals love the Mexican Roll, Tiger Roll and Las Vegas Roll. And while we love all the sushi, it’s worth trying their Chinese menu (General Tso’s and Kung Pao chicken). It is truly a one stop shop for all your favorite East Asian cuisine. If you’re just dropping in for a quick lunch, they offer both a combo sushi set ($8.50 – $12; includes soup and salad) and a Chinese combo set ($6.95 – $8.95) from 11am – 3pm.
